The Wayfinder’s destination management framework has been fully recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) as a set of standards equivalent to the GSTC Destination Criteria 2.0.
Destination Wayfinder Framework & Standard
Also referred to as the Destination Wayfinder Framework & Standard, our industry-led, evidence-based framework guides destinations on their stewardship journey so they can better balance the needs of their communities and visitors alike.
The framework is made up of nine core modules designed to enhance a destination’s strategic outcomes and based on the four pillars of the GSTC Criteria—sustainable management, socioeconomic, cultural and environmental impacts. In addition to these four pillars for sustainable tourism, five of the modules within the Wayfinder framework are designed to help destination organizations lay a strong foundation for destination management, enabling them to implement a balanced approach to economic, environmental, community and cultural considerations.
Below are the nine modules that make up the Wayfinder framework, broken down into its five success enablers and four stewardship outcomes.
